Already the Forth Generation in the Bakery Industry

As early as the beginning of the last century, great-grandfather Otto Kunze was a master baker in charge of a bakery in Dresden. As a matter of course, his son Horst Kunze followed and pursued his career in this same area. However, for health reasons, he was not able to continue his profession as a baker and retrained as a sales representative for a well-known manufacturer of bakery plants. In 1948, he set up his own business, marketing bakery machines and installations, where he also maintained a workshop and a small production facility for this equipment.

In 1971, the third member of the generation, Hans-Uwe Kunze, also went into business for himself by taking over the bakery machines trade of his father and the affiliated production facility, after having graduated in mechanical engineering and served several years of practical experience in this specialist area. He focused intensively on the development of proofing, air-conditioning and refrigeration technologies for bakeries. A specialisation in proofing and refrigeration developed quickly, and well-known companies in the bakery industry were supplied with these systems. He was constantly committed to the innovation of proofing and especially refrigeration technology and in enlarging the product range.

 

In 1995, his son Oliver Kunze, the fourth member of the generation, took over the management of Kunze Kälte-Klimatechnik GmbH, and currently employs around 25 people. Due to globalisation and a great demand, the product range was extended to include fully automatic roll-in roll-out proofing and freezing units. In the last 10 years, the customer base has extended its territory from the predominantly German-European area to the whole world. Today, 80 % of the sales are made through exportations. Beside the declining number of small bakeries, the professional baking industry at home and abroad has become a decisive customer.

A highly modern computer-controlled stainless steel sheet production enables the flexible and precision manufacturing of custom-made plants. Well-planned constructions for easy installation including air-conditioning and refrigeration technology represent a logical complement to the production programme. Problem solutions for specific locations, innovative ideas and high performance combined with an attractive design and high quality are not extras but standard services. From the planning stage to the final installation - everything comes from the same company and can thus be managed easily.
